He's still traumatized by his 2008 plane crash, and is unable to fly

Blink 182's Travis Barker won't be behind the kit on the band's upcoming trip Down Under.  The drummer announced on Facebook this weekend that he isn't able to fly to Australia for the trek because he still hasn't gotten over the horrific events that took place the last time he was on a plane.

Back in 2008, Barker's plane crashed in South Carolina, leaving him and pal DJ AM badly injured, and four others dead.

Blink 182 explained that they planned the tour last summer, knowing full well that Barker may not be able to overcome his fear of flying.  They said they tried to get him to Australia by other means, but they weren't able to work anything out in time.

So with Barker's blessing, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge will be starting the tour as planned on Wednesday, February 20th, in Sydney.  Tenacious D and Bad Religion drummer Brooks Wackerman will be filling in during the two-week-long outing.
